The creator of the Axel hook is Maria Grubbström, who lives in Björkvattsdalen near Tärnaby, Sweden. Before developing the Axel hook, Maria worked as a welder in her own workshop, specializing in both artistic and functional blacksmithing. She places great emphasis on local production, which is why the Axel is manufactured in Lapland, northern Sweden.

The Axel shoulder hook is available in four colours: orange, yellow, green, and pink.
